API Description: Alpha/Beta Arteether is an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) belonging to the artemisinin class of antimalarial drugs. It is a semisynthetic derivative of artemisinin and is used in the manufacture of injectable formulations for the treatment of malaria, especially infections caused by Plasmodium falciparum, including chloroquine-resistant malaria. It acts rapidly by generating free radicals inside the malaria parasite, leading to parasite death. Alpha/Beta Arteether is administered by intramuscular injection and is intended for treatment rather than prevention of malaria.
