Supplier Description: DIAMALT AG is a historic German company originally founded in 1902, known for developing the first malt extract for baking in the German-speaking region. It was initially created to produce and distribute a liquid diastatic baking malt called Diamalt, invented in 1901 by the Viennese Malzfabrik Hauser & Sobotka. The company, headquartered in Munich with facilities also in Halle (Saale) and Augsburg, expanded internationally in the early 20th century with branches in Britain, America, Italy, and France. Diamalt AG's product range historically included baking aids, malt preparations, soups, sauces, confectionery, as well as ingredients for feed and textiles, and keratin hydrolysates used in flavor and pharmaceutical precursor production. The company underwent several structural changes and expansions until it was acquired by Schering AG in 1979 and later spun off via a management buy-out in 1990.
