Cough suppressants

Cough suppressants (antitussives) are medications that reduce the urge to cough by acting on the cough reflex. They are most useful for dry, nonproductive (non-mucus) coughs, especially when coughing interferes with sleep or daily activities. They do not treat the underlying cause of the cough.
