It is a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-gated chloride channel inhibitor selective for mites, approved for the treatment of Demodex blepharitis. It has a role as a GABA-gated chloride channel antagonist, an ophthalmology drug and an ectoparasiticide.
